y=x+3 for x

Flip the equation:

x+3=y

Add -3 to both sides:

x+3+-3=y+-3

\fbox{x = y - 3}

x-2y=-1 for y

Add -x to both sides:

x-2y+-x=-1+-x

-2y=-x-1

Divide both sides by -2:

(-2y)/(-2) =(-x-1)/(-2)

\fbox{y = $(1)/(2)x+ (1)/(2) $}
