HELLP!!A car battery is dead so two people help push it. If the car weighs 5000 kg, and the first guy can push with 25 N of force, and the second can push with 33 N of force, how fast will they be able to accelerate the car?

Answer:

0.012 m/s^2 for 2 sig figs

Step-by-step explanation:

Newton's Second Law of Motion says that F = ma (Force is the product of mass times acceleration).

The force is the sum of the two "guys" pushing the same direction. Force is (25N+33N) = 58N

Mass is 5000kg

Force = ma

58N = (5000kg)*a

The units for 1 Newton are 1kg*m/s^2

58 kg*m/s^2 = 5000kg*a

a = (58kg*m/s^2)/(5000kg)

a = (58/5000) m/s^2

a = 0.0116 m/s^2 or 0.012 m/s^2 for 2 sig figs
