Many teens are experiencing difficulty falling and staying asleep. A study was done to figure out why and showed that many teens becamse irritable when screen time ended. Studies also showed that the reason for this is the blue light emitted by screens that interferes with sleep hormones. Another reason is that many games and videos are exciting and release a pleasure hormone that ends when screen time ends. The pleasure hormones that are released can be addictive therefore too much screen time can become addictive. Because the pleasure hormones are addictive which encourages more screen time and the blue light emitted by screen intereferes with sleep hormones, too much screen time can interfere with sleep.
