Let's use the easiest breaking method to solve:

#a

  • 82 = 80+2
  • 34 = 30+4

Multiply each term of 82 by each broken term of 34, i.e.

\tt \multimap \: 80 * (30 + 4) + 2 * (30 + 4)

\tt \\rightarrow \: 80 * 34 + 2 * 34

\tt \Rrightarrow \: 2720 + 68

\tt \rightharpoonup \: 2788

#b

  • 69 = 70-1
  • 12 = 10+2

Multiply each term of 69 by each broken term of 12, i.e.

\sf \multimap \: 70 * (10 + 2) - 1(10 + 2)

\sf \\rightarrow \: 70 * 12 - 1 * 12

\sf \Rrightarrow \: 840 - 12

\sf \rightharpoondown \: 828
