Answer: 6
Step by step:
1/2y + 1/4 = 1/12(3+xy)
6y + 3 = 3 + xy
6y = xy
6=x
1/2y + 1/4 = 1/12(3 + 6y)
1/2y + 1/4 = 1/4 + 1/2y
