Atomic structure refers to the structure of an atom, which is the basic unit of matter.
At the center of an atom is the nucleus, which is made up of protons and neutrons.
Surrounding the nucleus are electrons, which are much lighter than protons and neutrons and orbit the nucleus in a cloud.
