2.33*10^4
Explanation:
Let's subtract the enrollment in 1900 from the enrollment in 1950.
2.7*10^4 - 3.7*10^3
= 27*10^3 - 3.7*10^3
= (27-3.7)*10^3
= 2.33*10^3
2.33*10^4 students.
