Please help me if you can.

Novel: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
Bruno tells many lies of omission about Shmuel and even one bold faced about knowing him to Lieutenant Kotler. Was he right to keep Shmuel and their friendship a secret? How would things have been different had he confided in anyone about their friendship?

i do think it was the right thing to do, if anyone had found out about their friendship, shmuel would have been killed a lot sooner than he was. Both boys would probably be beat and neither would ever get to see each other again.
