the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the 2 opposite interior angles.

(x + 110)° is an exterior angle of the triangle , then

x + 35 + x + 40 = x + 110

2x + 75 = x + 110 ( subtract x from both sides )

x + 75 = 110 ( subtract 75 from both sides )

x = 35
