1. Suppose you have 1.00 mol of liquid water at 0.0 C and add just enough heat to bring the

temperature of the water to 100.0 °C, but no more heat is added. How much heat was added?

Answer: Heat Q = m·c·ΔT

Explanation: Mass of 1.00 mol water m= 18.016 g. Heat capacity of water is

c= 4.19 J/( g K) and change of temperature ΔT= 100 K
