in a group of 700 people, must there be 2 who have matching first and last initials? why? (assume each person has a first and last name, and the initials are from the 26 letters of the roman alphabet.)

Answer: Yes

Explanation:

There are 676 sets of unique first and last initials, there being 26 for the first and 26 for the last. With 700 people, there are not enough unique combinations for everyone to be different. Therefore, in a group of 700 people, there will always be two who have a matching first and last initial.
