Brad bought a total of 9 CD's and tapes. The CD's cost $7 each and the tapes cost $6 each. He paid a total of $58. How many of each did he buy?

I ONLY NEED THE EQUATION...I can get the numbers of cans and peas I just need the equations to find the numbers

This is Algebra....please help me!!​​

Let the number of CD's = c

Let the number of tapes = t

Total number of CD's and tapes = 9

c + t = 9 --------------- (i)

Cost of 'c' CD's = 7*c = 7c

Cost of 't' tapes = 6*t = 6t

Total cost = $ 68

7c + 6t = 58 -----------------(ii)

Multiply the first equation by (-6) and then add the equations.

(i)* (-6) -6c - 6t = - 54

(ii) 7c + 6t = 58 {Now add. here t will be cancelled}

c = 4

Number of CD's = 4

Plugin c = 4 in equation (i)

4 + t = 9

t = 9 - 4

t = 5

Number of tapes = 5
