Sorry I only know what general form is, not general formula.

First, subtract 2 from each side of 4x^2+10x=2

4x^2+10x-2=0

Divide by 2

2x^2+5x-1=0

Now use quadratic formula

(-5±√33)/4

You can also complete the square to solve the answer.
