What do imaginary solutions tell you about the quadratic function?

Imaginary solutions show that there are no real number roots to the quadratic. In other words, the quadratic does not cross the x-axis at a real number, but rather, an imaginary value. Often, quadratics with two imaginary solutions do not cross the x-axis, and thus there are no real solutions then.
