if the population of the small town is currently 7,900 people, how many years will it take for the population to reach 4,300 people?

Answer: 12 years

Explanation:

We know that the population decrease rate is 4% each year

So take 7900 times 0.04% = decrease 316 people each year

Then take 7900 - 4300 = 3600 people need to get there

Then take 3600 divided by 316 = 12 years
