Step-by-step explanation:

Amount in the beginning:

- Left side : 2 H and 2 O

- Right side: 2H and 1 O

You need the same amount of H en O on each side. You are missing 1 O on the right side, so you add another one by placing 2 infront of O on the left side. Now the O is balenced.

The H is out of balance now. You have 4 on the right side and 2 on the left side. So you add 2 H on the left side, by putting a 2 ahead of H2. Now you have 4H in total on the left and on the right side. The reaction is now balenced.
