Formula of linear equation:
「y = mx+c」
Steps to make linear equations:
1) Find "m" (the gradient, or slope)
2) Find "c" (the y-intercept)
Formula of gradient/slope:
「m= (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)」
m= (-5-3)/(-3-1)
m= (-8)/(-4)
m= 2
Sub "x", "y" and "m" into the linear equation「y = mx+c」 to find "c".
(you can use any of the 2 coordinates)
3 = 2(1)+c
3 = 2+c
3-2 = c
c = 1
ANSWER:
y= 2x + 1
