You can use the equation y=mx+b to solve

First you have to find the slope (m)

You can do this by using the equation y2-y1=x2-x1

(-6-1)/(3--1)= -7/5

m=-7/5

You then use the slope to find out b or the "y-intercept"

I am using the point (-2,1) to substitute

(1)=-7/5(-2)+b

-9/5=b

y=-7/5x-9/5

Check (3,-6):

(-6)=-7/5(3)-9/5

-6=-21/5- 9/5

-6=-6 true
