Explanation:

The first thing we want to do is isolate the variable, x² in this case.

We can divide both sides by 9 which yields the equation x²=
(4)/(9).

Then we can take the square root of both sides, x=2/3.

Note: When the exponent is an even number both positive and negative x values will yield the same positive answer, so x=±2/3
