Please help me!!! (Don't joke or banned)

An instrument store has 20% clearance on every instrument. A guitar originally costs $120. You take it to the cashier and they charge a sales tax of 5%.

How much did you pay for the guitar?

Answer:

I’m pretty sure the answer would be $100.80

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Take the $120 and multiply by 0.20, which will give you 24 (that’s 20% of 120)

2. Subtract $120-$24= $96

3. There is a 5% sales tax so take 96 and multiply by 0.05 and you get 4.8

3. Add $96+$4.80= $100.80

Answer:

P = $100.80

Steps:

  • Price after clearance:

Pc = 120 - (120/100×20)

Pc = 120 - (1.2×20)

Pc = 120 - 24

Pc = 96

  • Price after sales tax:

P = Pc + (Pc/100×5)

P = 96 + (96/100×5)

P = 96 + (0.96×5)

P = 96 + 4.8

P = $100.80
