because the right lung has more lobes than the left

The right lung has three lobes and the left lung has two. The right lung is five centimetres shorter than the left lung to accommodate the diaphragm, which rises higher on the right side over the liver; it is also broader. The right lung is divided into three lobes.

hope this helps
