to find the height we have to use the Pythagorean formula for the left triangle


X^2 + Y^2 = Hypotenuse^2

we sub the values in the formula


3^2 = Y^2 + 4^2

now we sub the values in the trapezoid formula

Area of trapezoid = (5+10)/2 * sqrt{7}

Area of trapezoid = 19.84 in^2
