When speaking about poems they are usually divided into two broad categories: open and closed form. Open form has no set structure or pattern that must be followed, whereas closed form does. So today we are analysing the poetic form: sonnet which is a closed form poem.

A sonnet can be defined as a closed form poem that has 14 lines and is focused on one topic. It usually is written in Iambic Pentameter.
