What is reciprocal in math? Can someone please explain and if it has rules that I need to know??

Answer:

A reciprocal in math is defined as being the inverse of a value/number.

For example, if you had the fraction 3/4, the reciprocal would be 4/3.

Some other examples include:

If you had a mixed number you would first change the number to an improper fraction before flipping the fraction. Ex:

2 4/5 -> 14/5 -> 5/14

Finding the reciprocal of a whole number is done by dividing the number by one. For example, the reciprocal of the whole number 9 is 9/1.
