Answer: Yes. It is worth the effort as well as the time. If you can restore an old painting, preserve a clay sculpture, or archive a film to there former glory it will be worth the time and effort. You can help people reconnect with a memory or even help yourself. It takes a long time but the results are memorable and worth every single time you thought to quit because in the end you are not just restoring an object. You are restoring a recollection.
