How do you find any x-intercepts?

Answer:

To find the x-intercepts of a function, set y, or f(x), to 0 and solve for x.

For example:


y=2x-6

When
y=0, the equation becomes:


0=2x-6

and this can easily be solved for x.


6=2x


3=x


x=3

Therefore, for this example, the line's x-intercept is at (0, 3).

Note that the y-coordinate is 0, since an intercept occurs when the other axis value is at 0.
