Write x² + 10x + 5 in the form (x + a)² + b

Explanation:

x² + 10x + 5

We are completing the square

Take 10, divide by 2, then square the result

10/2 = 5, 5^2 = 25

Add 25 , then subtract 25 to keep the equation the same

x² + 10x +25 - 25 + 5

(x² + 10x +25) -25+ 5

(x+5) ^2 -20
