Given system

  • 3x - 3 = y
  • 6x - 5y = 12

Solve by substitution

  • 6x - 5(3x - 3) = 12
  • 6x - 15x + 15 = 12
  • - 9x = 12 - 15
  • - 9x = - 3
  • x = - 3 / - 9
  • x = 1/3

Find y:

  • y = 3 * 1/3 - 3
  • y = 1 - 3
  • y = - 2
