A wire is first bent into the shape of a square. Each side of the square is 6 cm long. Then the wire is unbent and reshaped into a triangle. If each side of the triangle has equal length, what is this length?

Answer:

area of a square = l x l

= 6x6

=36cm2

when its reshaped to a triangle

area of a square = area of a triangle

36 = 1/2 x b x h

=but the sides are equal so h=b

so, 36=1/2xb2

b2=36x2

b2=72

b=8.49
