There are 30 apples in a box.

The mean weight of these 30
apples is 99 grams.
There are 25 apples in a bag.
The mean weight of the
apples in the box and in the
bag combined is 94 grams.
Work out the mean weight
of the 25 apples in the bag.

Answer: 88 grams

Explanation:

The total weight of the 30 apples is
(30)(99)=2970 grams.

The total weight of all the apples in the box and bag is
55(94)=5170 grams.

So, the weight of the apples in the bag is
5170-2970=2200 grams.

Thus, the mean weight is
(2200)/(25)=88 grams.
