Is (7,0) a solution to the equation y = 2x + 7?

No it is not, the easiest way to determine if a point fits the equation is to substitute the point values into the equation. From the point (7,0) we know the x value is 7 and the y value is 0. If you swap the values into the equation, you will get 0 = 2(7) + 7 which simplifies to 0 = 21 which is a false statement and proves it is not a solution.
