What does dilated by a scale factor of 3 mean?.

Answer is dilation is resizing an object “pre-image” by a certain scale factor or ratio to a new “image” which can be dilated by a scale up or a scale down factor. In this question a scale factor of 3 would mean the pre image would be multiplied by 3 to create the larger image.
