19. Jules and Lauren need to write an equation of a line that is perpendicular to: y - 2 = 1/(x-3). Jules writes the equation: y = -5x + 1 Lauren writes the equation: y = -5x + 7. Explain why both equations are correct.

I'm assuming your equation was:

y-2=(1)/(5)(x-3)

Both Jules' line and Lauren's line have a slope of -5 or
-(5)/(1) and those two lines are parallel since they have the same slope.

Perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocal values.

The opposite reciprocal of
-(5)/(1) is a positive
(1)/(5), which is why these two lines are perpendicular to the line at the top of my answer.
