Explanation:

3(2x - 10) + 4(x-7)= 12

6x - 30 + 4x - 28 = 12

combine x terms on left side:

10x - 30 - 28 = 12

combine numbers on left side:

10x - 58 = 12

add 58 to both sides:

10x - 58 + 58 = 12 + 58

10x = 70

divide both sides by 10:

10x/10 = 70/10

x = 7
