I will be using the substitution method, because it’s easier to substitute y = -1/4x + 7 into y - x = 2.

y = -1/4x + 7
y - x = 2

-1/4x + 7 - x = 2
-5/4x + 7 = 2
-7 -7
-5/4x = -5
4(-5/4x = -5)
-5x = -20
/-5 /-5
x = 4


y - x = 2
y - 4 = 2
+ 4 + 4
y = 6
