Why is it useful to check your work? Name one situation outside of school where you might need to check your work.

honestly there's many reasons you should check your work one of the main reasons is to make sure you get a good grade obviously, since most teachers like the fact that the students have perfect spelling. Some teachers even give extra credit for having good spelling in assignments such as tests, extra credit and just regular class work. I like to check my spelling for those exact reasons, and i like to get credited for my hard work.

and you can also do stuff outside of school like helping parents who speak different language spell properly . those are the main reasons i like to check on my work!

It is useful to check your work to be absolutely certain that you are confident in the answers that you chose. We often do things in haste and mistakes can be made easily. One situation in real life to check your work is your employment. Say your a bank teller, and a customer comes in and makes a deposit. You should check your work to ensure the right account is being credited and the for the right amount. Any mistake could cost you your job.
