Your answer would be x = -34

Your equation would be 1/2x - 7 = -24

As you can see you have 7 less than half a number. To find the first part of the equation you see half of a number. This gives you 1/2x in the equation. Then you have 7 less then that. Now you have equals -24.

Using this equation you first add 7 to -7 and -24. Than you have 1/2x = -17. Now you have to divide 1/2 from -17 because 1/2 is tied to c with multiplication. But the only problem is you can’t divide fractions. Instead you multiply by the reciprocal. In this case the reciprocal of 1/2 is 2/1 or 2. You multiply 1/2 by 2/1 which gives you 0. Than you multiply-17 by 2 and you get x =-34

Your answer is x = -34
