--------------------------
One - digit numbers
1 to 9 ⇒ 9 numbers
Two - digit numbers
10 to 99 ⇒ 100 - 10 = 90
Three - digit numbers
100 to 999 ⇒ 1000 - 100 = 900
Four - digit number
1000 ⇒ 1
Number of digits
1*9 + 2*90 + 3*900 + 1 =
2890
