Answer:

Width is 73/12 ft โ‰ˆ 6.08 ft

Length is (73 - 146/12)/2 ft โ‰ˆ 30.583 ft

Explanation:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length) + 2(width)

Which is the same as P = 2l + 2w

If length is 5 times the width then l = 5w

So P = 2(5w) + 2w

If P = 73

Then 73 = 10w +2w

73 = 12w

73/12 = w

Substitute 73/12 for w

P = 2l + 2(73/12)

73 = 2l + 146/12

(73 - 146/12)/2 = l

l = 30.583
