Answer:

D (-4, -4)

Explanation:

We know that the midpoint formula is:

M = (x_(1+)x_(2) )/(2), (y_(1)+y_(2) )/(2)

Since we already have coordinate C and the midpoint M, we can simply plug in these coordinates and solve for D, whose points we can label Dx2 and Dy2:

Dx_(2)\\ -3=(-2+Dx_(2) )/(2)\\ -6=-2+Dx_(2) \\ -4=Dx_(2)

Dy_(2)\\ -7=(-10+Dy_(2) )/(2) \\-14=-10+Dy_(2)\\ -4=Dy_(2)

Answer:

Explanation:

we need to find the slope from C to the mid-point

m =(y2-y1) / (x2-x1)

m = (-10-(-7) / (-2-(-3))

I have paid careful attention the the negative signs. They have put those in just to make the problem difficult.

m = (-10+7) / (-2+3)

m = -3 / 1

m = -3

now that we know the slope we can find the distance from C to the mid-point on the X axis, then add that number to the mid-point x value to find the x value of the D point

C's x value is -2 , the mid-point x value is -3 , the x value has moved -1 unit. so move another -1 unit from the mid-point to the D x value

or, -4

since we know the slope is -3, we can plug that in and see that the y value of D will be 3 less than the mid-point value for y , or -4

The point D is at (-4,-4)
