X=8

This is because angles AOB and COD are congruent. If they are congruent then they have the same angle measurement. Therefore we can solve for X as follows;

Substitute X for 8;

4(8)-2=30, because 4•8=32 and 32-2=30.
Therefore the final answer measurement is 30°

2(8)+14=30, because 2•8=16 and 16+14=30.
Therefore our final measurement is 30° making these two angles congruent.

We can be sure of ourselves by confirming that the last equation is indeed correct with 8 substituted for X.

5(8)+10=50, because 8•5=40 and 40+10=50
Therefore making this final measurement 50°

So if you add all these measurements together, (30+30+50), you have a final measurement of 110° which is an obtuse angle, and is indeed verified by the measure of angle AOD being obtuse, and also by the smaller three angles being acute angles. :)

Answer:

  • x = 8

---------------------

Angles AOB and COD marked as congruent.

Set equation and solve for x

  • m∠AOB = m∠COD
  • 4x - 2 = 2x + 14
  • 4x - 2x = 14 + 2
  • 2x = 16
  • x = 8
