Answer:

Explanation:

2x + 6 = 4y - 6

4x = 3y + 1

2x + 4y = - 12

4x - 3y = 1

2x - 4y = - 12 ......... (1)

4x - 3y = 1 .............. (2)

8y - 3y = 24 + 1

5y = 25

y = 5

y ----> (1)

2x - 20 = - 12

2x = 8

x = 4

The dashes show that the lines are equal
So we know that AC=CD and BC=CE
Substitute the values of the lines in and you get a pair of equations
4y-6=2x+6
3y+1=4x
We have a pair of simultaneous equations so we must try to remove a variable by substituting one equation into the other
First make equation one have 4x
4y-12=2x
8y-24=4x
Substitute equation 2 into the new equation 1
8y-24=3y+1
Solve
5y=25
y=5
Substitute y value into any previous equation
3(5)+1=4x
16=4x
x=4
So we get
x=4,y=5
