Leg A of a right triangle is 12 inches long, and the hypotenuse, C, is 13 inches long. How long is the other leg, B?

Using Pythagorean’s Theorem (a^2+b^2=c^2),

We get:
12^2 + b^2 = 13^2
144 + b^2 = 169
b^2 = 25
b = 5

Leg B is 5 inches long.
