Answer: The Tang Dynasty was militaristic while the Song Dynasty was very pacifistic and cultural, the Tang dynasty was the golden age of classical Chinese poetry, while the Song was a high point of Chinese painting, and in the Tang dynasty, the emperor shared political power only with those aristocratic families, and the aristocratic families could even dismiss the emperor. In the Song dynasty, the aristocratic families declined, and political power was held entirely by the emperor.

hopefully this helps :)

From 618 to 907, China was controlled by the Tang dynasty, and from 960 to 1279 by the Song dynasty. Chinese poetry, painting, calligraphy, and other creative forms all reached new heights throughout the rule of both dynasties, yet the two eras were extremely different in many respects. The Tang was a militarily strong empire centered on Central Asia, whereas the Song was a relatively weak nation centered in southern China.

Hope this answers your question!
