Explanation:

6x+y=8

x =8-y/6

substitute 8-y/6 in second equation

42*8-y/6 +7y=56

7(8-y) +7y=56

56-y+ 7y=56

-y+ 7y=0

6y=0

y=0

6x+y=8

6x+0=8

x=8/6

x=4/3
