How are ocean currents and atmospheric currents similar? Where does the energy that drives them ultimately originate?

Solution. The ocean and the atmosphere works hand in hand to move heat in the Earth's surface. When the sun heats the Earth's atmosphere, particularly the equator, the warm air rises and creates a low pressure near the equator. Because of this, the warm wind causes currents in the ocean.
