Answer:

The distance would be shorter than going across A street to B street to get Sarah's house.

Explanation:

The Distance between James's and Sarah's house can be found using Pythagoras theorem,

Distance² = ( 2 miles )² + ( 1.5 miles )²

Distance² = 4 miles² + 2.25 miles²

Distance² = 6.25 miles²

Distance² = 2.5 x 2.5 miles²

Distance² = ( 2.5 )² miles

Distance = 2.5 miles

Distance from street A to street B = 2 miles + 1.5 miles = 3.5 miles

2.5 miles < 3.5 miles

2.5 miles is lesser than 3.5 miles.

So,

The distance would be shorter than going across A street to B street to get Sarah's house.
