Equation of line: y = 3x + 3

The slope intercept form has a general formula:

y=mx+b

m = slope of the line

b = y-intercept

m can be solved by doing rise/run

change in y divided by change in x

(y_2 - y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

  • can be solved with given points (0, 3) and (1, 6)

(6-3)/(1-0)=m

(3)/(1) =m

3 = m

We now have y= 3x + b

  • y-intercept occurs when x = 0
  • looking at one of the given points (0,3)
  • when x = 0, y = 3
  • b = 3

equation of the line: y = 3x + 3
