To isolate the x, you need to first subtract 3 on both sides.
x/4 + 3 - 3 = 3 - 3
=
x/4 = 0
Then you need to multiply (4) on both sides to because it is the bottom of the fraction x/4.
x/4 (4) = 0 (4)
x = 0
