Place the equation in y=mx+b form. So, x-4y=8 becomes: 1/4 x-2. We know that the slope of a parallel line is the same as the original. Slope is m. Therefore, the slope is 1/4. Now place this in standard form with the points. y+8=1/4(x-4).
